Ohio State’s Search Marketing 754 begins this Tuesday, March 25th.

The class is officially referred to as Principles of Electronic Marketing 754, but this class is all about search marketing and web analytics. It’s the second year I’m teaching the course, and the syllabus has changed almost in its entirety from last year’s class. Guest speakers this year will include someone from Google Analytics, ClearSaleing, Compendium Blogware, GraphikDimensions, and CrimsonCup.

The 10-week course is held every Tuesday and Thursday from 1:30 - 3:18 in the afternoon. It is overbooked, by nearly 20 students. Last year, we limited the class to 25 people. Somehow, 41 students plus a waiting list have been allowed to book. Although last year, we had several people drop the first week once they realized how much work was involved.

We’ve selected several books, but I am working on a textbook opportunity so we can have less books to buy - I’d rather reference key parts of each book in one book.

Students are expected to keep a blog on the Bizresearch.com website to document what they’ve learned throughout the class. Tune in for more in the coming days.

Click to see the the guest student blog posts. The students’ first assignment was to blog creatively and candidly about any of five subjects, including your favorite pet, the environment, voting, a job post graduation, or anything else they are very passionate about.
